Earlier, Gujarat State Election Commission (SEC) has announced Gujarat Gram Panchayat Elections 2016 schedule. Elections was conducted for 10,318 Gram Panchayats on 27th December 2016. Gujarat Gram Panchayat Election Results will be announced on 29th December 2016. Gujarat Gram Panchayat Elections Notification was issued on the 5th December 2016. Last date for making nominations was 10th December 2016. There are 14017 Gram Panchayats and 18584 villages in Gujarat. The tenure of 10,318 Gram Panchayats end in December 2016.
State Election Commission will conduct Gram Panchayat Polls and released Gujarat Gram Panchayat Sarpanch results and Gram Panchayat Member results. About 25,000 polling booths have been established for the conduct of these elections. Voters have to cast two votes in these elections. one vote for sarpanch and one vote for panchayat member.

There are 33 District panchayats, 247 Taluk panchayats, 14017 Gram panchayats and 33 districts in Gujarat, namely Kutch, Ahmedabad, Anand, Bharuch, Chhota Udaipur, Dahod, Kheda, Mahisagar, Narmada, Panchmahal, Vadodara, Aravalli, Banaskantha, Gandhinagar, Mehsana, Patan, Sabarkantha, Amreli, Bhavnagar, Botad, Devbhoomi Dwarka, Gir Somnath, Jamnagar, Junagadh, Morbi, Porbandar, Rajkot, Surendranagar, Dang, Navsari, Surat, Tapi and Valsad.
Gujarat Gram Panchayat Election Results 2016 are expected to be declared after two days from the date of poll which is 27th December 2016. BJP and Congress are main political parties in this state.
