Kerala Employees Health Insurance Scheme

Kerala Employees Health Insurance Scheme/Kerala Pensioners Health Insurance Scheme will soon be launched by Kerala Govt. Kerala state govt is going to provide Health Insurance to all its employees and service pensioners. For this, Department of Finance, Govt of Kerala has released G.O (P) No.54/2017/Fin Dated 24th April 2017. Kerala Govt Health Insurance Scheme Guidelines are not yet released.

Kerala is now joined with several other state governments such as Andhra Pradesh, West Bengal, Punjab, Tamilnadu which are providing health insurance to their employees, pensioners and dependent family members in place of medical reimbursement. Kerala Employees Health Scheme will be launched with in few weeks. For this, Kerala state government employees need to pay monthly subscription to avail this health insurance. Kerala employees, pensioners and dependent family members will likely get cashless treatment in network hospitals spread across Kerala.

Tenth Pay Revision Commission has recommended to introduce Health Insurance Scheme for employees and pensioners in the State. Based on this Government vide order read above has ordered to introduce Medical Insurance Scheme to pensioners/family pensioners. In the Budget Speech 2017-2018 honourable Minister (Finance) has announced that the Health Insurance Scheme will be implemented during 2017-18.

In the circumstances, Government are pleased to accord sanction for implementing Health Insurance Scheme for State Government employees, pensioners and family pensioners. The premium of the employee will be deducted in installments from their salary.

The premium for pensioners/family pensioners shall be adjusted against the medical allowance now given. For pensioners who are not eligible for medical allowance in full or part (Part time contingent employees etc) the premium may be collected from them as the case may be. Health Insurance Scheme shall be implemented through the insurance company approved by IRDA, after a competitive bidding process, by giving preference to public sector insurance company. Detailed order regarding the scheme will be issued separately.

Health Insurance Scheme Kerala Employees PensionersIt is expected that Kerala Health Insurance scheme will provide inpatient treatment for the listed therapies under all specialties in the network hospitals. List of network hospitals will be released along with Kerala Govt Health Insurance Scheme Guidelines once this scheme is launched. Cashless treatment will likely be provided for employees, service pensioners and their dependent family members. It is expected that Kerala Health Insurance scheme will be implemented in lieu of present medical reimbursement system. Detailed guidelines about Kerala Health Insurance scheme for employees and pensioners will be released soon.
