In 2020 general elections, NDA Alliance (BJP+Janatadal United+Vikassheel Insaan Party+Hindustani Awam Morcha) has won 125 seats while Great Alliance (RJD+Congress+CPI (M)+CPI+Communist Party of India (ML) Liberation) also known as Mahagathbandhan (MGB) has won 110 seats out of the 243 assembly constituencies, Vidhan Sabha seats in Bihar. In this year 2025 also a keen contest is expected between the ruling party NDA and the opposition party Grand Alliance. From NDA, BJP and Janata Dal (U) are the main political parties, while from the Great Alliance RJD and Congress are the main political parties in Bihar state.

In the year 2020, Narendra Narayan Yadav of JD (U) has won from this assembly constituency by beating Naveen Nishad of RJD by 28,680 votes margin. This year too Electronic Voting Machines will be used for the Assembly Elections for all Vidhan Sabha constituencies in Bihar. Counting of Votes for the Alamnagar Assembly Constituency will be taken place on the 14.11.2025 from 8am.
